From the moment I signed up to The Sober Club Accredited Sober Coach Training Course, the whole experience has been amazing. It was a transformational week where I honestly felt like I stepped into my true authentic self. I loved Janey’s holistic approach and the variety of different techniques she shared. It was packed with so much valuable content and covered all elements of coaching but also the importance of taking care of our own well-being, as well as the needs of the client – so refreshing. I came away feeling stronger, inspired, and motivated to help others. Janey’s support is invaluable both during and after the course. She truly leads from her heart.
This training covers everything you need to become a ‘positive sobriety self-care’ coach and expand your business, and importantly, includes being part of the Sober Club Coaches ‘family’
Uniquely, because of Janey’s media and PR expertise, you will also benefit from being on Janey’s radar regarding opportunities and exposure as a ‘Sober Club Accredited Coach’.

More testimonials HERE from our Sober Coach Training Programmes

“The Sober Club Accredited Sober Coach training course was thoroughly enjoyable, a great mix of structure and spontaneity, we learned about the coaching methods, how to help somebody in the early stages of sobriety, how to recognise challenges for our clients and how to guide them through the process. The course is supported with literature, a website portal and our private coaches community so I won’t feel alone on my journey. The entire weekend was underpinned by focusing on our own well-being, and how to ensure we keep our own oxygen masks on first. If you are interesting in being an active coach or just curious as to whether you could coach someone, this course is for you. The wealth of knowledge that Janey imparts is priceless and the connections made are truly life enriching.” C.P
Would you like to become a Qualified Sober Coach?
What previous experience is needed?
If you are already a coach this is ideal to add to your work. It’s also perfect if you are new to coaching and currently offer some kind of therapeutic / people centered work and are keen to share your passion and enthusiasm for self-care and sobriety. We will have a phone call to ensure that the programme is right for you.
Do you want to offer sobriety coaching for paying clients? It is advantageous to have at least six months of sobriety under your own belt, but you may be keen to do the programme to support yourself, friends and family and take clients at a later date. Please note this is not ‘addiction recovery’ coaching. The clients you will trained to work with are those who are not clinically dependent on alcohol. The focus is on self-care and resources to live life to the full. It’s about well-being underpinned by sobriety.
In this training, YOUR personal story will also become paramount, revealing the ‘Authentic You’ and the immersive transformational work gives you confidence, and empowers you to step into the spotlight so that you can help others.
“The Sober Club Accredited Coach Training course far exceeded my expectations, it’s much more than a coaching course, it’s about the support you get from Janey, and others. Being part of a community who support each other is amazing, I am super excited and grateful for everything I have learned.” J. H

What happens on the course…
The first two days of the course are held in person with the group (max of 14 people) in Kings Langley village, Hertfordshire. A fabulous lunch is provided, with nearby places to stay, and options for evening meals, either alone or as a group. You also have the option of meeting Janey and some of the group on the evening before the first morning.
As well as this inspirational 2 days, the course includes an additional 4 weekly Zoom trainings with the group cohort. After that, as a member of the Sober Club Accredited Coaches family we are always in touch, advising and sharing each others progress, and welcoming new expert guest teachers.
If you are not able to attend the in person 2 day training in the UK, you can still complete the course. You would receive recordings of our 1st modules, have a separate online session with Janey , and then join the group for the live Zoom group sessions over the following weeks.
We identify how to determine your ideal client, and assess that they you are the right coach for them, how to create an action plan that works for your clients and will get results. It’s important that you know how to set boundaries, and take good care of yourself while inspiring others to do the same.
You will experience some of the best combinations of exercises, tools and protocols to use with clients. These tools encourage them to look at their nutrition, (a leading nutritionist delivers this module online) their mind-set, how they respond to stress and how to bring back joy into their life.
We dig deep into how the brain works, and how the brain chemistry can be out of whack after we have been drinking. We look at how to work with limiting beliefs, trauma and the ‘craving brain’. We dig deep into self-care resources and the power of connection.
As an actor turned counsellor, I thought I had it all figured out; I could go sober alone, after all, I’m not one to walk away from a challenge and I know myself now right? What I hadn’t prepared myself for was the unbelievable amount of support I got from Janey and the rest of the people on the course. I would not be so firm in my sobriety and getting so much from my life if it hadn’t been for Janey, this course and these incredible women. We all have different stories to share and different experiences and how wonderful it is to now know how to pass on the same knowledge and support to other sober curious people. If you’re looking to share the joy of being alcohol-free through coaching; want to learn more about yourself and/ or meet other like-minded people with a view to adding great value to your personal and working life, then I’d highly recommend Janey’s course. You’ll find in her someone so knowledgeable & skilled, inviting you to be part of this incredible movement and cheering you all the way. Thank you so much Janey and all the other sober club coaches and members!

Frequently asked Questions
Why is now a good time to train as a Sober Life Coach?
There has never been more awareness around grey‑area drinking – people who are functioning well but drinking more than they want to. Many are seeking support long before “rock bottom,” and sober life coaching fills that gap beautifully. It’s deeply rewarding work, highly flexible, and can be done from anywhere in the world.
Who can enrol? Do I need to already be a coach or health professional?
This is a complete, comprehensive training programme suitable for both professionals and those retraining for a new career. Around half of our students are already coaches or wellbeing practitioners; the rest come from all walks of life.
Important: The only requirement is that you have chosen to live alcohol‑free. We do not accept those who are still drinking or who want to support moderation, because the foundation of this training is the belief that life is better without alcohol.
I’ve never run a business before. What support will I receive?
A lot! Starting a business can feel daunting, so we guide you through every step:
- Branding & Marketing Training: A full practical course to help you define your ideal client, craft your message, and build your business.
- Mindset & Emotional Support: We help you overcome fears around visibility, confidence, and starting something new.
- Flexible Business Models: Whether you want to run local meet‑ups, corporate wellbeing sessions, or integrate sobriety into an existing coaching practice, we help you design a business that fits your life.
- Ongoing Support: You can join our mastermind group for continued professional development and be featured on the Find a Sober Coach directory – where many of our coaches get all of their leads.
By the end of the programme, you’ll have the skills, confidence, and practical tools to launch and grow your sober coaching practice.
Why should I train when technically I could call myself a coach without qualifying?
You could – but you wouldn’t be equipped to handle the complexities of behaviour change, emotional wellbeing, or the deeper issues that often sit beneath drinking habits. This certification ensures you are:
- Highly trained
- Ethically grounded
- Confident and professional
- Holistic in your approach
Clients place enormous trust in their sober coach. Training sets you apart as a skilled, credible practitioner.
How does this training support people from other professions (yoga teachers, nutritionists, healers, functional medicine practitioners, etc.)?
Beautifully. The Accredited Sober Coach training enhances the work you already do by giving you powerful holistic tools to help clients overcome subconscious blocks, emotional triggers, early‑life patterns, and social anxieties that traditional coaching alone may not address.
It integrates seamlessly into:
- Yoga & meditation teaching
- Nutrition & functional medicine
- Energy healing
- Life coaching
- Bodywork & wellbeing practices
It enriches your existing toolkit and expands the impact you can have.
Can this training equip me to work with people who are clinically dependent on alcohol?
No. We are absolutely clear on this.
This programme is designed for working with grey‑area drinkers, people who are functioning well but drinking more than they want to. It is not addiction counselling, not clinical treatment, and not a substitute for rehab or medical care.
You will learn:
- Ethics
- Boundaries
- Mental health awareness
- Who you can and cannot work with
This ensures you practise safely and professionally without needing to be a licensed clinician.
Will I feel part of a community?
Yes. Connection is at the heart of this programme.
- You join your cohort’s WhatsApp group immediately.
- You become part of our wider Sober Club coaches’ community after qualifying.
- If you join our Sober 360 mastermind, you’ll experience even deeper connection, collaboration, ongoing education and support.
Many long‑term friendships are formed.
Do you offer discounts or scholarships?
We’ve priced the training as affordably as possible, similar programmes without Janey’s expertise are often 70% more expensive. We offer flexible payment plans, but no additional discounts or scholarships.
Many coaches have borrowed the fee from family and earned it back within three months of qualifying.
How much self study is required?
The core modules are delivered over the first two intensive days. After that:
- Expect 2–3 hours of supporting materials in the first week
- Then several weeks of online sessions (all recorded if you can’t attend live)
- You can qualify in as little as 7 weeks, subject to a 1‑1 consultation
- Or take your time -there is no deadline after the initial modules
You retain ongoing access to all materials and mentoring.
Can I take the entire training online?
Yes. The training includes:
- One pre‑workshop online session
- A 2‑day intensive live – but you can watch the video recordings of the core modules
- Five online sessions and ongoing mentoring and support
- A comprehensive archive of training materials
If you can’t attend the 2‑day event live, you can complete it virtually and book a Q&A session with Janey. Many international students choose this option. You may also attend a future live training at a nominal fee to refresh your skills.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
No. This is a full professional training programme. Even if you decide not to coach, you will have received all the training and many transferable skills. Before you make a decision, we recommend booking a call with Janey before enrolling.
Will this training help me personally as well as professionally?
Absolutely. Many students describe the experience as life‑changing. You’ll gain deep self‑awareness, emotional resilience, and tools that support your own wellbeing and sobriety.
What makes this training holistic?
This training includes sessions on Emotional wellbeing, Mindset, Nutrition, Subconscious patterns, Lifestyle, Nervous system support, Purpose and identity, Working with those with ADHD, Community and connection – Plus there is an introduction to therapeutic modalities such as EFT, NLP and Family Constellations – Rather than just being a “quit‑alcohol” programme
What skills will I actually graduate with?
You will complete with coaching skills which can be used in any life coaching situation, holistic tools, energy healing techniques, therapeutic techniques such as NLP, and NLP techniques to use with clients, in addition you will have basic business skills, ethics, boundaries and PR and marketing.
What happens after I qualify?
Once you have gone through the programme there is a form to complete and a short consultation to check that you are ready (we have never had to say no yet – you will know when it’s the right time for you) and you will receive your completion certificate, Sober Club Accredited coach logos for use in your marketing and codes to access IPHM if you choose to be listed with them
If you decide to join our Sober 360 mastermind group (v affordable) there is ongoing personal and professional development, and ongoing education from leading expert sessions, monthly online meetings, with opportunities for collaboration and promotional opportunities You can also be featured on the Find a sober Coach directory which is where most people get their leads
I only have a few months of sobriety. Is it too soon?
If you know you’re “done” with alcohol, this training can be incredibly transformative. You may not be ready to coach immediately, we recommend a full year of sobriety before practising, but you can begin the training, do the inner work, and prepare your business.
Deep 1‑1 coaching would cost the same, so the certification is often the most cost‑effective route.
Will I be certified in EFT, NLP, or other modalities?
You’ll receive introductions to EFT, NLP, and other holistic tools. You will not be certified as an EFT or NLP practitioner, but you will have enough techniques to use confidently with clients as part of your sober coaching practice.
How is the course accredited, and what about insurance?
The training is accredited by:
- IPHM – International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine
- IGHT – International Guild of Holistic Therapists
Once qualified, you can be listed in their directories.
Insurance as a sober life coach is straightforward and affordable- typically under £150 per year.
Where can I find your terms of service and privacy policy?
Both are available on our website.
What if I have more questions or want to speak with Janey?
Simply get in touch to book a 1‑1 strategy call to explore whether the training is right for you.
